A minimum of 30 credits normally taken in regularly scheduled
graduate courses or seminars.
Competence in one language of modern critical discourse, normally
German or French. Candidates who matriculate in the program at
the M.A. level must complete one language requirement before the third
semester of study. If continuing on to the Ph.D., another language requirement
must be completed before the beginning of the third semester of Ph.D.
study.
Comprehensive examinations are specified within three areas
of study. The subject matter of these examinations must:
- fall within more than one historical period,
- include
a diversity of religious traditions,
- and one of the examinations must be historical and one textual
in nature.
