Religion and International Relations Major Political Science Minor

I will soon finish my undergraduate studies with degrees in Religion & International Relations and a minor in Political Science. I came to Syracuse University intent on majoring in some form of international studies, and had never given religious studies a second thought. However, on attending a reception for new students at the Dome, I met Professor Fisher, who would ultimately become not only my teacher, but also the most supportive advisor. His scholarly interests so impressed me that I accompanied him to the Hall of Languages and immediately declared a major in Religion. I am specifically interested in the way in which religion operates in society as a tool of different political movements, and so have focused my course of study on religion in society. After graduating, I will work for Americorps. Although this position may seem to be unrelated to both of my majors, it is not, for I will use my knowledge of different religions to help me relate better to my students. This major has done wonders for my understanding and tolerance of people with different backgrounds than my own. I am so glad I came across the Religion Department's table at that reception four years ago!
